Benefits of Tea

Lightly bitter and uniquely refreshing, tea is the drink of choice for many people around the world. What is less known is that there are also health benefits associated with drinking tea aside from its addictive taste. In particular, teas contain a lot of bioactive ingredients that possess antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Here are some teas that we use in our boba teas and their respective benefits.

Black Tea
Dried Black Tea

Black tea is made from the same plant as Green and Oolong Teas, but it undergoes a longer oxidation time before drying, so the tea leaves are transformed into a darker copper color with a deeper taste. It is especially known to benefit our heart health since it lowers our blood cholesterol levels. It may also prevent obesity by blocking the digestion and absorption of fats and complex sugars and by decreasing the accumulation of fats in our body.

Green Tea

Green tea is completely unoxidized. Its leaves are steamed quickly after harvesting to preserve the concentration of antioxidants, so drinking it regularly lowers the risk of chronic illnesses such as cancer and lowers our blood pressure. It improves our blood flow, too, which gives us greater activity in the working-memory area of our brains and makes us more alert.

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is a type of tea typically found in Taiwan. It is also fermented before drying but undergoes a shorter fermentation period than black tea, so it has a taste and color somewhere between green tea and black tea. This means oolong tea contains all the antioxidant benefits of black and green tea while having additional benefits of its own. The specific type of bioactive ingredient in oolong tea lowers blood sugar levels and reduces insulin resistance, effectively decreasing our risks of obesity and getting diabetes.

Knowing that tea is so beneficial to our health, what is there to not love about it? With the addition of creamy milks and boba that adds a textural surprise to each sip, tea transforms into an exciting dessert! BUBLUV® Bubble Tea builds upon that base to create a better-for-you option, keeping all the benefits of tea and delicious taste of boba and leaving all the added sugars! It’s a drink you can enjoy while truly feeling good.
